The floor to ceiling glass on the concourse, the glass jetways, and the first-class amenities make Key West's small airport a world class destination hub. We still have some finishing touches but all who pass through this facility will be in awe of the results achieved by the team that made this happen.&rdquo; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Monroe County Mayor Jim Scholl<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Gone are the days of stepping off the plane into that sticky island air (charming, but let&rsquo;s be real, <em>it had its downsides<\/em>). I mean they really thought of everything&hellip;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As if that wasn't enough, they also put in smart glass that adjusts tint depending on where the sun is. It&rsquo;s like sunglasses for the building &#128526;. Now I just want to figure out how to install the same tech in my windshield!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#128200; <strong>EYW is Getting Busier&mdash;and Better<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With 1.5 million passengers flying in last year, EYW has become way more than a tiny island airport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, you can fly nonstop to cities like New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Boston, and more. (<em>10 points if you're all four like me!<\/em>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#128719;&#65039; <strong>Where to Stay<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>When I visited, I realized that where you stay can really shape your trip. Key West has a ton of personality, and the hotels reflect that. Some are cozy and quiet, others are lively and stylish. Here are a few I&rsquo;ve either stayed at or have bookmarked for next time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.opalcollection.com\/capitana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>The Capitana Key West<\/strong><\/a>&ndash; Beautiful and tucked away, but still close to the action. Perfect for couples and families. I stayed in one of the Cottages and it was like having my own house, highly recommend!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.southernmostbeachresort.com\/specials-and-packages\/?gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=10159995509&amp;gbraid=0AAAAADqQUv2ICB0MYzRzGxK7vDdfkX-OD&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQjw0LDBBhCnARIsAMpYlAp9-expgBvdAfrXb7Eijln9Gibq5eM827nyOoNfbzDpdnWj8mWcm0EaAiEKEALw_wcB&amp;gclsrc=aw.ds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Southernmost Beach Resort<\/a><\/strong>&ndash; Right on the beach with gorgeous ocean views, great pools, and an easy walk to everything. It's perfect if you want that toes-in-the-sand vibe without being far from the action. (my wife and our Press Manager, Liz, is there <em>right now<\/em> and I am so jealous!)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kimpton Lighthouse Hotel<\/strong> &ndash; Super cute, super Key West. I love how everything in Key West is walkable or just a short ride away. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&rsquo;s what I&rsquo;d hit first if I were back there now:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mallorysquare.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square<\/strong><\/a> &ndash; Street performers, food carts, and epic sunset views. It&rsquo;s touristy, but totally worth it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hemingwayhome.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Ernest Hemingway Home &amp; Museum<\/strong><\/a> &ndash; Even if you&rsquo;re not a book nerd, the six-toed cats alone are worth the visit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Duval Street<\/strong> Crawl &ndash; From dive bars to fancy cocktails, this street has it all.
